Are there dead animals in space9/25/2023 France launched two monkey-carrying flights in 1967. The United States launched flights containing monkeys and primates primarily between 1948-1961 with one flight in 1969 and one in 1985. ContentsĪ wide variety of animals have been launched into space, including monkeys, dogs, and insects. To date, seven national space programs have flown animals into space: the Soviet Union, the United States, France, Argentina, China, Japan and Iran. Bioastronautics is an area of bioengineering research which spans the study and support of life in space. ![]() Later, animals were also flown to investigate various biological processes and the effects microgravity and space flight might have on them. The crawlspace has a concrete rat slab, so I don't think anything burrowed in.Animals in space originally served to test the survivability of spaceflight, before human spaceflights were attempted. ![]() My suspicion is that it is a squirrel or other small rodent because I've heard scurrying in the attic late at night occasionally (but not in the past couple of weeks), so my guess is that it probably fell down into a wall cavity and got trapped, although there were no flies present in the attic. Is there anything I can do about this? Is this worth calling an exterminator or do I just have to wait until the carcass is consumed/desiccates and the flies go away and try to mitigate them with fly paper in the meantime? The problem is annoying and a bit gross, but not so bad that I'm willing to have someone start tearing into drywall looking for a carcass. I assume this means there is a dead animal in my crawlspace or in a wall somewhere, but I can't smell anything or see anything in the crawl space, at least without entering it. ![]() A few days ago LOTS of blowflies (~50) appeared in my house, and they appear to be coming from the basement, which is mostly very hard to access crawl space.
